Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
I have learnt a huge amount and improved the quality of my work since my college magazine task. My main picture is framed much better and more conventionally on my music magazine, on my college magazine it is poorly framed and dimly lit.For my music magazine, I used professional lighting and framed it much better with a conventional mid shot compared to the long shot in the college magazine. Since then, I have also learnt how to manipulate skin in Photoshop, how to edit and insert text from secondary sources and how to make my magazine more conventional. In my music magazine I have a much better colour scheme, with different fonts and also my masthead is positioned better and I have included a skyline and footer. I have learnt more about demographics and have priced my magazine more realistically at £2.50 for my final product compared to £1.50 in my first effort. I have also used pull quotes and plugs more effectively in my final product. I have used basic Photoshop elements such as Insert, Scale, Brightness and Contrast, Liquify, Text tool and Spot Healing tool to improve my image. I have learnt about the conventions of magazines and have also improved the mise-en-scene of my magazines making my models costume related to the indie ideology.
Evaluation questions
These are the questions I had to answer for my evaluation-
In what ways does your media
product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
How does your media product
represent particular social groups?
What kind of media institution
might distribute your media product and why?
Who would be the audience for
your media product?
How did
you attract/address your audience?
What have you learnt about
technologies from the process of constructing this product?
Looking back at your preliminary
task, what do you felt you have learnt in the progression from it to the full
product?
